An accomplished professional with unique experience in enterprise leadership, academia, and the non-profit church sector, for over fifteen years Dr. Phillip Carnes worked as an executive of a successful national insurance marketing firm and as a private money manager. He has served in a variety of leadership capacities within churches in California and Nevada, is a specialist in non-profit board governance, and a consultant regarding governance, leadership, talent development, and other areas of corporate and personal growth.
Dr. Carnes is a Certified Transformational Coach, a Certified Social + Emotional Intelligence Coach, an Associate Certified Coach of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), a registered ICF Mentor Coach, and a Professional Member of the Christian Coaches Network. He has advanced degrees in Biblical Studies and Education, and a doctorate in the field of leadership with an emphasis in semiotics & future studies.
Additionally, Dr. Carnes has extensive training in the use of some of the industry's leading 360-degree assessment instruments, and is certified by The Booth Company, Korn Ferry, and the Institute of Social+Emotional Intelligence. He enjoys partnering with leaders and learners in all walks of life as they work to become the people they were designed to be.
Phillip serves as adjunct faculty at George Fox University, advising doctoral students over the course of their research and writing. It is also a special pleasure of his to be a partner coach of the Urban Youth Workers Institute (UYWI). The UYWI is a faith-based non-profit providing "intensive leadership development program designed to support youth workers in creating 'right angles' for impacting their ministry and community." Dr. Carnes is passionate about his coaching with the UYWI because it provides him with the opportunity to resource leaders in their passion to serve urban, at-risk youth.
Phillip’s rich and diverse experience in enterprise, academia, and non-profit governance gives him discerning insight to the rigors of leadership in its many expressions. His strongly relational temperament when harnessed with best coaching practices provide him with great empathy and understanding in his personal coaching work with clients in their lives, goals, and relationships.
Phillip lives in northern Nevada with his wife of 24 years and their four children.
